Discover the future of global fashion innovation as RMIT's fashion merchandising students showcase their Young Essentials Project (YEP) capsule collections at an exclusive launch party in Melbourne.
The launch, hosted at Ms Collins on Tuesday, 11 November, will feature menswear, women's casual and active wear capsule collections designed and produced by students in collaboration with Myer, Country Road and Sportsgirl.
Recognised as Australia's premiere innovative fashion and business program, the Associate Degree in Fashion and Textiles Merchandising has been producing high level graduates for the past 15 years.
YEP allows students to collaborate with Australia's most influential fashion brands to create capsule collections that may go on to be produced and sold in store.
Lisa Parrella, Myer Category Buyer and Developer, said the students demonstrated creativity and the work they produced was to an extremely high standard.
"They came with fresh ideas and took initiative that pushed the boundaries, particularly when it came to social media and marketing," she said.
"Their final presentations and use of mixed media were definitely the highlights."
YEP Manager and Program Coordinator Fashion and Textiles Merchandising at RMIT, Robyn Lyons, said students involved in YEP had "hit the ground running".
"Our students excelled while working on real industry briefs with the nation's most influential fashion retailers," she said.
"They've worked on the briefs from their conception right through to the production and marketing phase, and what they've produced is cutting-edge and very exciting."
Graduates of the Associate Degree Fashion and Textiles Merchandising work in a range of fashion industry positions, from product development to trend forecasting and merchandise planning and allocation.
