In a battle between future advertising stars, RMIT University students will fight it out against the University of Technology Sydney on the Gruen Planet’s "The Pitch".
From a brief relating to the political issue of Australia’s borders, the twostudent teams have created and developed a 45 second TV spot that will be judged by the panel on the hit ABC show on Wednesday, 25 September.
The RMIT student team, in their final year of the Bachelor of Communication (Advertising ), consists of Ellen Fromm, Emma Borland, Isabella Caruso, Ryan Graf and Lucy Downs.
Lecturer Kerin Elsum has helped the students manage the project and given them moral support, as have the School of Media and Communication’s industry partners.
"This has been an exciting real life opportunity for the students who have frantically been developing, producing and editing the 45 second spot within the tight deadlines," Ms Elsum said.
"They are all so excited to present their spot, meet the panel and hopefully win the trophy!"
RMIT media lecturer Paul Ritchard and media graduate Lauren Pell, who is now TV producer at Whybin/TBWA, assisted with the production and editing of the spot.
Production is taking place this week and the students will fly to Sydney for the recording of the show onTuesday, 24 September.
The show will air on ABC1 at 8.30pm on Wednesday, 25 September.
