Graduating RMIT art students will weave a world of wonder through the City campus this week, in a one-night-only show celebrating their final projects.
The School of Art Graduate Showcase (6pm-9pm, 25 November) is a unique free event offering visitors the opportunity to experience artwork from conception to production across a variety of media.
Public art, performances, live music, digital media, photography, painting, sculpture, ceramics, gold and silversmithing are just some of the types of art that will be on show, with food trucks, bars and DJs keeping the atmosphere lively as art lovers wander through the many spaces open to the public.
Master of Arts (Art in Public Space) alumni and current Master of Arts (Arts Management) students will take punters to a moment in time when there is collision and change in Urban Arrhythm.
Within the urban space of the streets and lanes surrounding Building 50, on Orr Street an “arrhythm” occurs through impromptu meetings between works, where artists collaborate on large-scale interactive installations, performances and projections.
A catalogue showcasing selected student work from the RMIT Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) and Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) (Honours) degrees will also be on display as part of the night.
RMIT is ranked 20th in the world for art and design, making it the top Australian university for the discipline.
