About

Dr. Yulin Xiong is a post-doctoral researcher at the Centre for Innovative Structures and Materials (CISM) at RMIT University. He received his B.Eng. degree in transportation engineering from Central South University in China in 2016. Yulin is completing his PhD at CISM, where he received a full scholarship supported by the Australian Research Council.

 

Yulin has strong research interests in topology optimisation methods and applications related to additive manufacturing. He has solved a major problem in large-scale topology optimisation using the BESO method. His research outcomes in topology optimisation have been published in leading international journals.

 

In September 2024, Yulin began working on the ARC Laureate Fellowship project under the supervision by Distinguished Professor Mike Xie.  Yulin’s active research areas include topology optimisation, computational mechanics, high-performance computing and additive manufacturing
