Our research will provide further information to a relatively new concept of 3D Frequency Selective Surfaces.
Frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) are planar periodic structures of identical cells in one or two directions that can behave like filters to electromagnetic energy.
Based on the element geometry, FSSs can be classified into four categories of filter response: band stop, band pass, low pass and high pass.
Previous incarnations of 3D FSSs consist of a 2D array of cavities whose modes and coupling with air can be controlled to obtain a desirable frequency response.
This project aims to develop and investigate the transmission/reflection characteristics of a 3D Cylindrical Frequency Selective Surface. The 3D FSS is still a relatively new concept, and very few designs have been proposed so far.
