A Better Work Start: Impact of COVID-19 on Maritime Supply Chain and Post Pandemic Mitigation Strategies: Implications for Australia
On 2nd July we had another event within the RMIT ECP Post Covid-19 Restart initiative. It was organised in conjunction with the Australian Maritime Logistics Research Network (AMLRN) and led by Assoc. Prof. Vinh Thai. Watch the webinar here.
2019
The Inaugural Symposium of the AMLR Network was held on December 10th 2019 and hosted by the School of Business IT & Logistics, College of Business and Law, under the auspice of the Global Business Innovation Enabling Capability Platform of RMIT University.
The Symposium received support and attendance from more than 40 academics and industry professionals from RMIT University, Australian Maritime College – University of Tasmania, University of Sydney, Griffith University, La Trobe University, University of Newcastle, and Swinburne University, as well as Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development; Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA); Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC); Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia; Port of Melbourne; DP World Australia; Geelong Port; Patrick Terminals; Australian Amalgamated Terminals (AAT); QUBE Ports; Australian National Line (ANL); Mainfreight; Agility Logistics; Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Australia (CILTA).
The event was also supported and reported in social media by Daily Cargo News (DCN). Participants at the Inaugural Symposium presented a wide range of topical subjects in the maritime logistics industry such as autonomous shipping, container and cruise shipping network design, port development strategy, operational risk analysis with blockchain application in container shipping, data-driven ship voyage management, the impact of container shipping consolidation on service quality and customer satisfaction, among others. Other topical topics i.e. the impact of IMO 2020 on shipping, 4th Industrial Revolution in shipping and port, etc. were also discussed during the Industry-Academic Panel Discussion. The AMLR Network’s structure, Capability Statement and Workplan 2020 were also contemplated at the symposium.
