Dr Bao studies the fluorescent mechanisms of new nanomaaterials and the development of biosensors to probe biomolecules and cells.
Chemical engineering; nanomaterials; biotechnology and electrochemistry.
This has provided Dr Bao with the fundamental knowledge and expertise to expand her research and investigate synthesis and functionalization of fluorescent nanoparticles in interfacial nanodroplets for biosensing applications.
Dr Bao contributes extensively to research in materials science and biosensors through publications in journals such as Advanced Materials, Nano Letters and Biosensors and Bioelectronics.
She has established collaborative projects related to fluorescent carbon nanodots with researchers at Cornell University (USA) and Wuhan University (China). These projects contribute to the cross disciplinary research in nanodroplets, microfluid, colloid and interface science conducted in RMIT’s schools and centres.
Dr Bao was awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2015 and is based in the School of Engineering.
