The ARC Research Hub for Advanced Manufacturing of Medical Devices aims to transform Australia’s medical technology sector by developing cost competitive technologies for the rapid production of medical devices.
It brings together research and industry partners committed to the development and application of advanced manufacturing technologies and the translation of this research into outcomes for industry.
The Hub seeks to concurrently develop materials, methods and technologies for more efficient design and manufacturing processes, better devices, and improved clinical outcomes.

The RMIT team is focused on delivering two research projects.
The project focuses on delivering automation solutions to solve product and information flow challenges associated with manufacturing customised medical devices.
The project focuses on identifying opportunities to optimise the design of existing customised medical devices and investigating new avenues to improve clinical outcomes. The project will achieve this by investigating the feasibility of novel materials, design alterations and innovative manufacturing and processing technologies along with understanding the clinical problem through modelling, experimentation and discussions with clinicians.
