As part of the research internship program with the Centre for Global Research, Abby Cone worked on a cultural exchange project ‘Changing the Score'.
"I have been granted a great opportunity to work closely on a current research project and contribute to the final results.
"I started my internship with the Centre in the second semester of 2013 as part of my international studies degree at RMIT.
"I applied and was accepted into a position working with Dr Elizabeth Kath and Global Reconciliation on the latest cultural exchange project ‘Changing the Score’. This project saw a group of AFL players, sport for development workers and Indigenous participants take part in a cultural exchange with members of favelas in Brazil, facilitated by local NGO partner, IBISS. I have been lucky enough to be involved with this project from a relatively early stage. Under Elizabeth’s guidance, I have been able to hone my research skills and apply them in a professional setting. I am continuing my work with Elizabeth until the results are finalised and recorded and I look forward to taking part in the creation of a final report of our findings and methodology."
