This project assesses the links between policies for community cultural development, community leadership, human wellbeing and individual capabilities.
Art central is a shire-wide arts program based in the Central Goldfields Shire, Victoria. It is funded by the Cultural Development Network, as a recipient of an Australia Council for the Arts Creative Communities Partnerships Initiatives (CCPI) grant. The arts program will bring together professional artists from the Central Goldfields region into a collaborative residency with the local arts community. The project intends to connect and engage with community members from across the education, recreation, business and health sectors through a series of workshops and projects. The research dimension of the project assesses the strong links between policies for community cultural development, community leadership, human wellbeing and individual capabilities. This research extends from previous community development projects by Centre researchers in Port Moresby, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo, Dili, Hamilton and Braidwood.
