The Visualisation, Integration and Collaboration (VIC) Lab seeks to improve productivity and innovation through advanced information management systems, processes and practices.
Industrial competitiveness can be improved using Building Information Modelling (BIM) to integrate supply chains. BIM is a digital information methodology and technology that can integrate information from asset inception, demand assessment, planning, technical and cost feasibility, design, construction production and in use maintenance and management.
BIM adoption requires inter- and intra-organisational cultural and behavioural changes. While other countries have been adopting BIM, Australia has been quite reluctant to engage. Our tertiary institutions are generally lacking in capacity to train and equip the next generation in BIM and other collaborative project information technologies.
We seek to advance the use of sophisticated information management and modelling through analysis of various topics, including
- BIM tools
- BIM enterprise management
- remote data management
- design review and management
- decision support frameworks
- virtual teams.
Our Centre has a tripartite agreement with the Centre for Game Design Research and the VxLab. This interdisciplinary group shares the Visualisation, Integration and Collaboration (VIC) Lab and seeks to explore opportunities for global collaboration.
