An ongoing international research network facilitating critical dialogue and practice exploring collaborative curating in contemporary art.
Curator(ial) Collaborative is a project initiated by Wilson Yeung in Melbourne, Australia in 2017 as a research study on collaborative curating between the artist, the curator and the community. This project-based research employs curatorial practices that particularly interrogate the role of the curator in facilitating cross-cultural collaboration, exploring the role of ‘the curator as collaborator/facilitator’.
This research will be undertaken through a series of curatorial projects conducted in seven diverse international cities: Melbourne (Australia), Shenzhen (China), Valencia (Spain), Bangkok (Thailand), Hong Kong (SAR of China), Macau (SAR of China) and Glasgow (Scotland). Focusing on collaborative practices of curatorship, this project adopts contemporary performance methods of ‘collective creation' to research models of curating contemporary visual art in alternative ways and contexts.
