Investigating how socially engaged public art activity can contribute towards or activate community connectivity in a targeted suburban area of Melbourne.
The study will be focused on the ‘North of Bell Street’ precinct of Moreland City Council municipality. The case study for this project will be Glenroy, a transforming post war suburb facing renewed and complex globalising urban conditions, the result of increased and diversified migration.
The project will establish an artist’s incubator site, at the ‘Wheatsheaf Hub’, where participants, in collaboration with key researchers, to develop public projects focused on community and social engagement. The project is supported by Moreland City Council and is funded by the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund.
Key researchers: Shane Hulbert and Tammy Wong Hulbert.
