The book records and reflects on a photography and video art festival screened on the white washed walls of the ancient city of Suzhou, China in 2012.
The project bought together artists, academics and curators from Victoria, Australia and Jiangsu, China, to research curatorial strategies within urban public space through engaging collaboratively with the street community and promoting cultural connections between Australia and China on a local level. The book explores the key themes of the collaboration and includes chapters on identity, belonging, history and emergent meanings. Also provided are two unique perspectives on Chinese art in the form of interviews with Dr Geoff Hogg, and Dr Tammy Wong Hulbert, who both have long histories of working in China.
