Robin is currently Writer-in-Residence and Director of the Writing Program at Yale-NUS in Singapore, and was previously Director of the Nonfiction Writing Program at University of Iowa. He has published 12 books of nonfiction and fiction.
Robin is the founder of the international NonfictioNOW conference, which has been co-presented with RMIT University in 2012 and 2015. nonfiction/Lab will again co-present NonfictioNOW 2017 with Robin at University of Iowa.
Robin is the winner of many awards, including the Nelson Algren Award for Fiction from The Chicago Tribune, and three Pushcart Prizes in both fiction and nonfiction. His stories and essays have appeared in the New York Times, New York Magazine, Chicago Tribune, and many literary magazines and anthologies. Robin received his MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop and directed the Nonfiction Writing Program at The University of Iowa for nine years.
