Cedar Pacific Elizabeth Accommodation Scholarship

For students who need to relocate to study at RMIT in Melbourne; provides a rental subsidy worth up to $18,091 for accommodation at UniLodge Melbourne City.

Applications for semester 2 2022 now open

In 2022 the scholarship will be paid in the form of a rental subsidy for:

  • studio queen at UniLodge Melbourne City worth $25,844 for 52 weeks or $12,922 for 26 weeks . After the subsidy of $18,091 (full year) / $9,045 (one semester), successful recipients will be required to pay rent of $149.10 per week the duration of their lease agreement. 

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or a permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • be relocating or have relocated from interstate or rural/regional Victoria to study at RMIT in Melbourne within the last four years
  • be enrolled full-time in semester 2 2022 in a certificate IV, diploma, degree or postgraduate by coursework program at RMIT
  • not already be residing in student accommodation
  • be able to demonstrate financial disadvantage such as:
    • receiving a government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
  • be able to demonstrate educational disadvantage such as:
    • having a long-term medical condition or disability which impacts your study
    • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state
    • experiencing difficult family/social circumstances
    • were born overseas, are from a non-English speaking background and recently migrated to Australia
    • are a current or former refugee
    • completed your secondary education at a School Network Access Program school
  • have not previously commenced or completed a program at the same level of study or higher.

If you are a certificate IV or diploma student you must:

  • have a government-subsidised place
  • not be enrolled in an apprenticeship or traineeship program.

Complete the online application by the application close date.  In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit a complete online application. Partial applications will not be assessed.

Additional charges

The scholarship covers part of the weekly rent (which includes water, electricity and unlimited Wi-Fi) at UniLodge Melbourne City. It does not cover food, telephone, bond, bed and kitchen packs, activities, parking or departure cleaning fees. At the end of their tenancy, students are required to pay a departure cleaning fee.

Bond: successful students will be required to pay a bond of $1,988 to UniLodge Melbourne City prior to moving in.  This will be refunded to students at the end of the contract following an apartment inspection and clearance of all relevant payments to the accommodation provider.

If you are paying rent and want to cancel your lease agreement, you are required to continue paying all your rent charges until a new resident can be secured or the contract ends, whichever comes first.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.

Only successful candidates will be notified via email to their RMIT student account.
