For third year architecture and interior design students who can demonstrate academic achievement; worth $5,000.

The Sue Carr Award provides up to $5,000 for one year.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or a permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • be enrolled full-time in your third year at RMIT's Melbourne City campus in semester 1 and 2 in either:
    • Bachelor of Architectural Design (BP250), having already complete a minimum of 192 credit points and with at least 72 credit points left to complete (i.e. at least 36 credit points of enrolment in each of semester 1 and 2)
    • Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) (BH115), having already completed between 192 and 216 credit points and with at least 72 credit points of third year courses to complete (i.e. at least 36 credit points of enrolment in each of semester 1 and 2)
  • have a current grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher in your current program
  • be passionate about your study and future career
  • be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, innovation, self-motivation and potential leadership qualities.

Application questions

It is expected that the online application will take approximately thirty minutes to complete. The main application questions are listed below to allow you time to prepare your answers prior to starting the online application.

  • Discuss your passion for studying in your chosen field, including the steps you have taken to achieve your educational goals.
  • What are your future plans and career aspirations?
  • Describe your communication skills, creativity, innovation, initiative and/or potential leadership qualities.
  • How do you intend to use this scholarship and how will it assist you to achieve academic success?
  • What is it about the Carr company that appeals to you and makes you believe that you should be the successful recipient of the Sue Carr Award?

The Sue Carr Award is sponsored by Carr. Carr is one of Australia’s most highly awarded Architecture and Interior Design Practices. Their vision is to drive change, challenge perceptions and design for the future.

Notice to applicants

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.

Only successful candidates will be notified via email to their RMIT student account.
