Future Edge is an employability program designed to help you gain the skills and experiences you’ll need to achieve your goals.

All current RMIT students are able to join Future Edge.

Future Edge helps you bring together all of your co-curricular experiences, such as your part-time job, volunteering work or internships to enhance your employability. During the program you will learn how to show case your skills and experiences to employers.

You can manage your progress online at your own pace, and reflect on all the skills you will develop throughout the program.

Future Edge will help you:

  • use your co-curricular activities and leadership experiences to increase your employability
  • connect with students, industry partners and expert career consultants during your participation
  • get the most out of uni life with fun activities and events
  • gain valuable skills such as professional communication, teamwork and leadership
  • benefit from your on-campus and off-campus voluntary activities.

No, Future Edge is an co-curricular program so you will not get academic credit awarded towards your degree program. You will get skills and experiences that are valued by employers.

Completing activities across all three categories will give you diverse personal and professional skills and make you more employable. This range of skills will give you a cutting edge in the competitive job market.

Co-curricular activities are designed to help your personal and professional development and enhance your student experience and employability. They are not formally part of your degree program. Co-curricular activities include but are not limited to:

  • voluntary programs
  • internships and volunteer programs
  • employability skills workshops.

You can complete the Future Edge program at your own pace while you are studying at RMIT.

If you are completing Future Edge in your final year, you will need to complete the Program by 15 October, or 30 May if you are graduating mid-year. This gives the Future Edge team time to ensure you receive full recognition for your participation on your academic transcript at graduation.

Yes, your work experience will be recognised as one of your Future Edge activities, even if it is not related to your degree. This includes any full time, part time, casual or volunteer work.
