What is How2RMIT?

How2RMIT sessions and campus tours are packed with essential information that will help new and returning students to get ready and organised to make a smooth start to the semester and succeed at RMIT.

In How2RMIT experienced students explain everything - from timetabling, fees and loans, to studying successfully, making friends, finding your way around, getting involved in the RMIT community, free support services, and lots more.
 

Three parts

How2RMIT is made up of 3 parts: How2GetStarted, How2GetAhead and Campus tours.
 

How2GetStarted, 1 hour sessions offered online or on campus 

How2GetStarted is a 1-hour information session where experienced students will show you everything you’ll need to know and do before classes begin this semester.

  • Get Organised: Learn about timetabling, classes, student card, fees, loans, and other 2022 student admin essentials
  • Navigating RMIT: Find out how to get your questions answered at RMIT, find your way around online and on campus and learn about important COVID campus protocols.
     

How2GetAhead, 1 hour sessions offered online or on campus 

How2GetAhead is a 1-hour session where experienced students will tell you what they wish they knew when starting at RMIT, so you can get the most out of your time and set yourself up for success.

  • Study Support: Find out about all the assessments and study support available
  • Get involved: Learn about clubs, activities, and other ways to meet new people
  • Reach Out: Understand the range of confidential guidance and support services
  • Get Job Ready: Discover all the career support services available at RMIT to help you get job ready
     

How2RMIT campus tour, 1-hour 

 Experienced students will showcase your campus, share stories about their university experiences and insights to what they wish they knew when starting at RMIT, so you can gain a feel for campus life! 

Campus tours are running at City Campus, Brunswick and Bundoora.

How2RMIT sessions and campus tours are packed with essential information that will help new and returning students to get ready and organised to make a smooth start to the semester and succeed at RMIT.

Who should attend How2RMIT?

All students! Whether you are new to RMIT or returning, you're guaranteed to discover something new and useful from How2RMIT.

Are you an international student aged under 18? During How2RMIT (How2GetAhead session) you’ll find out about your rights and responsibilities, support services and accommodation options. Sign up for How2GetAhead to learn more!

Did you miss your orientation week? How2RMIT keeps running after classes start so you can attend and get the key information you need.

Online sessions: These sessions will be delivered via Microsoft Teams. Download the Microsoft Teams desktop app via the Office 365 Education website (you must log in with your RMIT student email e.g. s1234567@student.rmit.edu.au to be able to attend the sessions). Click here for detailed installation instructions (PDF)

On-campus sessions: These sessions are only available at the City campus – Job Shop or Garden Building. Please refer to you Eventbrite booking for location details. 

How2GetStarted

New students are encouraged to attend a How2GetStarted, as soon as possible, and before their program induction and commencement of classes.

How2GetStarted sessions are specific to your program level (e.g. Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor, Masters etc.), so make sure you register for the right one!
