Artist, Peter Ellis, explores the artistic portrayal of the hybrid monster from mythology through to biotechnology. Discover more of Ellis' work as he discusses art, practice and his enduring fascination with the surreal monster as part of RMIT Gallery's exhibition, My Monster: The Human Animal Hybrid.

Come along and hear artist and RMIT Associate Professor, Peter Ellis, discuss art, practice and his enduring fascination with the surreal monster in his drawings.

His work, which explores the artistic portrayal of the hybrid monster, from mythology through to biotechnology, features in RMIT Gallery's exhibition My Monster: The Human Animal Hybrid.  Deeply interested by surrealism since the 1970s, Ellis' drawings of hybrid creatures explore the psychological space between human and animal, and are bizarre and engaging, while being beautifully executed.
