It’s your responsibility to ensure that you meet the requirements for entry into the course/s you are applying to study as part of an outbound enrolment.
Only approved courses undertaken at the host institute will be credited towards your RMIT award program. This means that you can only undertake the course/s identified and approved on the Application for approval of non-standard enrolment higher education form.
Any unapproved courses undertaken at the host institute may not be considered as credit towards your RMIT award program.
To apply for cross-institutional outbound study, complete all sections of the Application for approval of non-standard enrolment higher education form.
Submit your completed application via the RMIT Connect Portal. Contact the host institute regarding submission deadlines.
Your application will be assessed on submission. If approved, you’ll receive the signed form via email to your RMIT student email address.
You must maintain your place in your RMIT award program by ensuring you’re enrolled by the RMIT deadline for enrolment.
If undertaking courses at both RMIT and the host institute concurrently, you are required to enrol into your RMIT program for the relevant semester in line with the RMIT deadlines for enrolment.
Alternatively, if you’re undertaking all courses at the host institute for a given semester, you must apply for a leave of absence online for the RMIT award program for the relevant semester before the enrolment deadline.
Before you move on to the next part of ‘After you have completed your course’, there are a few things you need to know.
Change or cancel your enrolment
If you decide to formally withdraw from course/s enrolled at the host institute, you must inform the host institution by their relevant census dates.
For international students on a student visa, it’s your responsibility to ensure that you’re not breaching any of your visa conditions as it may lead to cancellation of your visa. International students may be able to enrol in online or distance study modes when they’re offered as part of CRICOS-registered programs or units delivered by a CRICOS registered provider. Please refer to the visa conditions page for more information.
You’re required to enrol in a full-time load each semester and complete your study within the expected program duration on your Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE). If you’re granted credit, your expected program duration may change and this may also affect your student visa.
As an outbound cross-institutional student, you won’t be charged tuition fees by RMIT for approved courses undertaken at the host institute. You will be required to pay the fees charged by the host institution for your study and follow the fee payment deadlines of the host institution.
At the end of your course, the host institute should provide you with an official transcript of results. Once this is received, you’re required to submit a copy to your RMIT school by week two of the following semester to complete the credit transfer process in order for your RMIT academic record to be amended.
If you don’t submit an official transcript of results by this time, it may be assumed that you've failed.
