How does the program work?

The program offers regular organised events and activities for students and mentors to get to know each other. Students are partnered with an experienced RMIT student as their mentor, who will support and guide them through their first few months in Melbourne.

There may be 3 mentors and 8-10 students.

Initial introductions are managed by the program and after that, mentors keep in contact with students and organise catch-up meetings and activities. The program offers support to all mentors and students, including some group events.

Mentors who complete the training and achieve the minimum 15 hours of voluntary service within the Foundation Studies program may be eligible to qualify for RMIT’s LEAD certificate.

Our purpose

  • Support the transition of Foundation Studies students to their new environment.
  • Help students adjust to life in Melbourne and the Australian culture.
