Grants and external scholarships
Several grants are available to support you during your candidature to provide you the opportunity to pursue excellence in your research.
You can also apply for external scholarships throughout your candidature.
You may be eligible for one-off special purpose grants at different stages of your Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program. The following grants are available for currently enrolled HDR candidates:
- HDR Research Travel Grant (HDRTG) - For research candidates travelling to complete fieldwork, research-related activities, conferences and workshops; funding available up to $2000. Application periods apply.
- HDR Publications Grant (HDRPG) - For research candidates travelling to complete fieldwork, research-related activities, conferences and workshops; funding available up to $2000. Application periods apply.
There are also several that external scholarships RMIT candidates can apply for, which include travel scholarships, thesis editing scholarship, period of study in another country, etc. Many of these scholarships are linked to particular research topics.
Variations during your candidature
You may experience changes in your circumstances during your candidature such as leave of absence, change of study mode, degree or program, etc. If you are receiving a scholarship or are a sponsored student, you will need to contact your scholarship provider or your sponsor before submitting your application for leave as leave may result in your payments being suspended.
