Leave of absence

Who is eligible?

If you are currently enrolled in an RMIT Online program you can apply for a leave of absence for up to three teaching periods in a calendar year.

  • your reason for requesting a leave of absence
  • necessary documents to support your request
  • the name and code of the program from which you wish to take a leave of absence

View the RMIT Online important dates to review these dates.

Once your information has been received an RMIT staff member will contact you to confirm the outcome of your application.

During your leave of absence

The University may need to contact you with important information so we encourage you to continue to check your RMIT student email account.

Please make sure you keep your personal details updated.

Returning to study from leave of absence

When your leave of absence ends you must enrol in the next teaching period by the relevant enrolment deadline.

Advice about the enrolment process will be sent to your student email account. You are responsible for actioning this enrolment and failure to do so may mean that you lose your place in the program.
