PhD Up – Simple Ways to Build Community

This seminar teaches techniques for community building in a research environment.

Research communities are loosely organised, self-supporting groups that aim to provide collegial support. There are good, structured ways to build effective communities without the need for significant funds or time. This seminar will take you through some of our favourite techniques for community building. Our experience is based on creating new communities of practice and growing research networks like Shut Up and Write, Whispercon, Grant Camp, Academic Writing Month, Personal Learning Networks, and convening research networks.

By the end of the talk, you will have a range of practical strategies for building a community with your peers and colleagues.
