Free Food Handling Certificate Course – for international students only

Take advantage of job opportunities in cafes, restaurants and other hospitality venues with this nationally recognised food handling certificate.

Many jobs in cafes and restaurants in Australia require workers to have a Food Handling Certificate. This one-day food safety training course and assessment (SITXFSA001) covers the basic principles of food safety and gives you the knowledge, skills and accreditation to start working in the hospitality sector.

This course is open to current RMIT international students only. Usually, this course costs $95-$120 but this session is free of cost.

Only 35 spots are available. Please ensure you are available on the exact date and time before registering as this event will only run once!

The course will include:

  • Instruction on hygiene procedures, identifying food hazards, reporting personal health issues, and preventing food contamination and cross-contamination
  • An in-class written assessment
  • A practical skills test and demonstration carried out in a group setting

Upon successfully completing the course, you will receive:

  • Statement of Attainment as a PDF file
  • A printed booklet to take home

What to bring:

  • A few pens
  • A facemask 
  • No dress code – just dress for comfort and warmth
