Urban Play School at Melbourne International Games Week

Explore an urban playground of experimental games created by student game designers from Future Play Lab.

What happens when a research lab, a creative hub, and student game designers play together? This magical combo is Urban Play School, which takes over Bowen Street and reimagines your life on campus.

Help playtest exciting new games in public space!

Ready, player? Loosen up and get your stretches in to build the highest tower in a stacking game with a twist. Defend your own and take what's yours! Set your own rules in a thrilling standoff based on a classic Filipino street game. Weave with sound... literally. Interact with creators and amplifiers to produce original sound and plug in new connections. Walk, hop, skip, or jump to compose a tune. Pick up an instrument and start serenading Bowen Street!

Race on over to meet the student game designers, have a go of their innovations, and make new friends! Games are suitable for all ages and do not require prior knowledge or skills. Come with an open mind and get your game face on!
