• Stay protected with the latest security software. Restart your RMIT computer at least once a week to allow new software to be installed and help to keep your data secure
    • Set all your devices to ‘automate’ security updates
  • Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth auto-connect when not required
  • Keep your devices with you at all times. Don’t leave them in public, in a hotel room, in a car or your hotel safe (especially when overseas)
  • Device charging. To prevent the transfer of malware, only use cables and adapters purchased from reputable providers to charge your devices
    • Don’t use others charging cords and don’t share yours
    • Avoid using free USB charging ports in hotel rooms, airports or at events 
    • Use your own power adapter and cable and use a standard electrical powerpoint
  • Lock it. Use a PIN or set up biometrics to access your device
  • Regularly back up your files and photos
  • Regularly scan your devices for malware 
  • Set up remote tracking, locking to protect yourself in the event your device is lost or stolen
