I’ll soon start the work experience component of my degree and I’m really excited about it. I’ll spend one whole semester in supervised practice and I can’t wait to put my knowledge and skills into practise.
I have an undergraduate degree in biomedicine, but I found that I needed to further build my knowledge and skills in order to work as a medical scientist.
I chose to study a Master in Laboratory Medicine at RMIT because it has a strong focus on work experience and industry relevant skills.
The lecturers have been amazing. They are constantly sharing information about seminars and industry related meetings that we are encouraged to attend. Going to these events has really helped me to clarify my career direction.
The facilities at RMIT are great and our projects have been industry relevant. I’ve had the opportunity to design my own experiment on flow cytometry and use an analyser to test the samples.
Designing my own experiment and performing the test helped me better understand the subject and developed my confidence working with laboratory equipment.
