Samuel Northeast had no intention of being stuck behind a desk all day, a Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services offered challenging work – and the chance to work outdoors.
Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services
I seem to enjoy studying more as I get older and more mature, so I’m excited by the idea of doing a higher qualification part-time while working.
I was told RMIT was a great place to study for a plumbing trade, and it also offered further study if I wanted to do it.
The facilities are up-to-date and well maintained, and the equipment is the same as the best equipment I would use working in the industry.
All the teachers are qualified plumbers in the construction industry. They covered all parts of plumbing and construction in their lectures, offering students the benefit of all their years in the industry. That meant I personally came out of the course confident and prepared for work.
I had three big highlights in my time studying: completing my final exams, getting my registration licence and receiving an award for Best Overall Certificate IV Plumbing and Services Student.
The hard work has paid off, I’m now putting what I learnt into practice at Cavana plumbing and really enjoying it.
I plan to do further study once I have completed all my licensing and study requirements in plumbing and services, and I feel well prepared to handle whatever is next. Preferably I’ll continue studying at RMIT as the past four years have been a great experience.
