Maurice Wehbe sees the building and construction industry as a mix of practical and business skills. He’s found a program that develops all areas while building his passion for building the future.
Diploma of Building and Construction (Building)
The highlight of my studies would be meeting people who share the same interests.
I am open-minded. I am motivated. I am a leader.
I’ve always wanted to work in building and Construction and found RMIT’s Diploma of Building and Construction the perfect place to start.
My program was designed to provide the skills the Building Practitioners Board look for when issuing Building Licences. However, because it looks at the whole industry, you’d also be covered if you wanted go into project administration because you’d already be familiar with the documents and terminology used.
I’ve also found that RMIT’s many partnerships in the construction industry. These provided me with opportunities to engage with people currently working in the industry and to visit actual live sites.
I really enjoyed learning here because of the great amount of support from my teachers. Every day I learned something new to help me succeed in industry.
Aside from the learning though, the highlight of my studies would be meeting people who share the same interests. I chair the Student-Staff Consultative Committee which gives students the opportunity to bring up any issues. This has benefited me as it has given me the opportunity to run meetings in front of a large group of people and resolve issues as they arise.
Once I graduate I hope to start working and work my way up to project manager. Eventually, I plan to start my own company and build peoples’ dream homes.
I love what I do because one day I know I will come out of this course with the knowledge to be able to build people’s dreams.
