STUDENT
Adriana Ciavarella – Live Production and Technical Services
Adriana wants to work behind the scenes in the music and theatre events industry. She enrolled in the Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services to help her achieve this goal.
RMIT Program:
Certiicate IV in Live Production and Technical Services
Industry experience has allowed Live Production and Technical Services student Adriana Ciavarella to find her passion in music events.
I attended the RMIT Open Day and was fascinated by the demonstrations in the live production studios and display rooms. The students and staff working on the day were very helpful and after I spoke to them about their experiences in the course, I was set on going to RMIT.
Throughout my studies, my teachers have all been fun and approachable, with tons of industry experience that makes learning more insightful and personable. I love attending class – not just because of the content, but because my educators are great.
RMIT’s facilities make our learning very hands-on. Almost every class includes equipment that is used in the industry, which helps me to understand concepts and further my technical knowledge.
I’ve really enjoyed working on practical assessments at external venues and with musicians performing live. I’ve benefited from these projects, as they have taught me how to work to a deadline and with a team. I’ve learnt the value of communication skills and how to successfully work as part of a team of industry professionals.
One of the projects I’ve worked on is the Bakehouse Project. As part of this assessment, I learnt to work with students from other courses like Screen and Media, Photography and Sound Production. I was able to put into practice the technical skills I’ve learnt of setting up and operating lighting as well as how to create an appropriate atmosphere for the setting.
This opportunity allowed me to develop networks with industry professionals while also learning on the job.
When I graduate from my course, I plan to work for an audiovisual company that does large events, preferably music events. I love what I do because I enjoy contributing to productions and making events entertaining and memorable for audiences.
