Jess Dettmer's childhood dream of flying is now becoming a reality, thanks to her study of the Associate Degree in Aviation (Professional Pilots) at RMIT.
Associate Degree in Aviation (Professional Pilots)
I chose RMIT Flight Training school as I’d previously completed my Bachelor of Aviation at RMIT and had heard great things about the course.
My family often jokes that the passion for flying must flow through my veins because my desire to become a pilot seems to have always been there. As far back as I can remember I have wanted to fly, especially growing up with both parents in the aviation industry.
Being able to follow and see my dream to become a pilot be fulfilled. My first solo flight was probably one of the greatest achievements and happiest moments I’ve had at RMIT Flight Training so far. The feeling of the empty aircraft and knowing it’s all up to you was scary but also made me feel proud, happy and free.
I chose RMIT Flight Training school as I’d previously completed my Bachelor of Aviation at RMIT and had heard great things about the course. The location of flying at Point Cook is also unique. You don’t have to wait around for ages, as you would need to other school.
I have always dreamt to one day work for the Royal Flying Doctors Service, flying throughout rural Australia and helping people. You need a lot of experience for this and it will be hard to get into. To work up the hours I plan to work for charter and cargo companies throughout Australia and then hopefully one day be able to apply to such an amazing company and cause such as the RFDS.
