Being involved with a multi-national company offers significant value to my research as the end result might be applied to a real-life, existing challenge.
I have always been interested in understanding how aircraft and cars are made and how they function.
My research is focussed on modelling flow behaviour of glass fibre polymer composites, which are used to make high strength car and aircraft components.
Potentially this research could be used to improve mass production capabilities of high strength plastic products, reducing cost and wastage for industrial manufacturing.
My research topic was developed through consultation with my supervisors and the projects industry partner. Conducting my research in partnership with Autodesk has provided significant value to my research and means that the outcomes have the potential to be applied to a real-life, existing challenge.
I chose to pursue my PhD at RMIT because of the experienced supervisory team that was made available for my project. This ensures that I receive proper guidance for my research.
My supervisors are a great inspiration for me. Their collective experiences of over 60 years in this field and vast knowledge have been crucial in helping me handle the challenges of doing a PhD.
I’ve had the privilege of representing RMIT and presenting my work at the Polymer Processing Society Asia/Australia Conference in China. It was a great opportunity to network with experts in my field and to get feedback on my research.
The world-class equipment made available to me at RMIT University has been extremely useful in carrying out my research.
After completion, I would like to work in a research and development centre in the automobile or aviation industry. My aim is to further improve product development technologies and contribute to reducing the environmental footprint associated with manufacturing.
