Elle Bios always loved geography and RMIT's Bachelor of Science (Geospatial Science) provided the perfect degree to pursue her passion.
The program prepares us for industry through work experience and connecting us to people who are already working in the field.
When I was little, I used to read the atlas and thought the Melways was fun! In high school, I enjoyed creating maps in geography and found weather patterns and climate change really interesting.
Geospatial Science seemed to be the perfect fit for me. I liked that RMIT had a specific degree in this field and I’d heard great feedback from past students.
Group work has been a highlight for me – I find it challenging and interesting. Group assignments have taught me how to work with different people and meet deadlines.
I’ve also enjoyed the practical fieldwork we completed at Yarra Bend, which brought a different perspective to the degree.

I completed work experience in cartography at Hardie Grant, where I assisted with the making of maps for UBD and EXPLORE Australia.
My advice for future students is to embrace uni life before it’s over! Get all the help you can from your lecturers, tutors and classmates.
My dream job is to be a geospatial analyst and to put all my skills to good use.
