Impressed with the programs, facilities and location of RMIT, Marcela Klocker is studying a double degree in telecommunications engineering and computer science.
Bachelor of Engineering (Telecommunications Engineering) (Honours)/Bachelor of Computer Science*
The lab spaces at RMIT are well designed, modern and equipped with everything you could possibly need.
I’ve always had a passion for science and mathematics. Pulling apart electronic gadgets to figure out how they work has always been a hobby of mine. I was also making websites and playing around with code from a very young age.
I chose to study at RMIT because of the offering of programs, facilities and learning environments. There was a wide and diverse range of programs I could choose from, including double degrees.
I also really enjoyed the atmosphere at Open Day. Everyone was very friendly, genuine and spoke very highly of their experiences at RMIT. The campus itself was buzzing with life and energy.
The lab spaces at RMIT are well designed, modern and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Designing and building circuits has never been so easy thanks to all the technology available to students.
RMIT has numerous connections with industries that have a large presence in Australia. I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of six RMIT students to visit Huawei's office in Sydney. Here I had the opportunity to have hands-on experience in their labs and learn about the company. I also got to visit the Optus headquarters where I was exposed to the field of telecommunications and network engineering. It gave me valuable insight as to what engineers do in the workforce.
I hope my program will give me the skill set I need to reach my goals, which is to give back to the community through the means of engineering. I’d love to be able to better the lives of people by providing innovative solutions to a variety of different problems.
