Chinese medicine’s holistic approach to patient health fascinated Mitchell Grandell, and fuelled his desire to study it at RMIT.
Bachelor of Health Science/Bachelor of Applied Science (Chinese Medicine)
I love Chinese Medicine because of its holistic approach to health, and the way it can be tailored to individual patients. It incorporates emotions, diet and lifestyle, and acknowledges that all these play a major role in health and wellbeing.
I observed a skilful practitioner before I started studying Chinese medicine. Seeing how he made a difference in people’s lives, drove my interest and passion in the field.
I chose RMIT for my course because it was highly regarded for both coursework and research.
The program also has strong physiology, anatomy and Western medicine components that ensure students have a well-rounded knowledge of the modern healthcare industry.
In the Chinese medicine discipline, RMIT has strong links with traditional universities and hospitals in China, including an internship opportunity for final year students in Nanjing.
The program has also enabled me to undertake a placement in the area of Chinese herbal farming. This involves maintaining the Chinese herbal garden, and collecting seeds and propagating various species for research and teaching purposes.
