My dream job is to work as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse in my own centre. I love what I do because I get to help children and families reach their full potential.
I love what I do because I’m able to help children and families reach their full potential.
I’m passionate about working with children and families and wanted to further my career. The structure of RMIT’s Graduate Diploma in Child and Family Health Nursing really appealed to me and I’d also studied at RMIT previously and enjoyed the experience.
The highlight of my studies was gaining hands-on experience during work placements. I had the opportunity to undertake placements in a range of environment including maternal child health centres, parenting centres, childcare centres and kindergartens.
Through my studies and placements, I gained the skills necessary to deliver developmental assessments of children from newborn to school age. I felt confident in providing help and guidance to families raising young children.
Taking on further study as well as being a mother of one young child can be challenging and I was lucky to have the support of my family and the university lecturers at RMIT.
I now work as a relief maternal and child health nurse with the Yarra Ranges council. It’s very rewarding to have the opportunity to help and support families.
In the future I hope to eventually work as a maternal and child health nurse in my own centre.
