Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
RMIT's Graduate Diploma in OHS has given me the practical skills and knowledge I need as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer. My role involves OHS education and training, WorkCover conciliations, reviewing policy and legislation.
Working as a physiotherapist I am passionate about health and safety. I chose RMIT because of its reputation for academic excellence and the practical application of skills in the workplace.
The Graduate Diploma in OHS Management has given me the practical skills and knowledge I need to work in occupational health and safety. The preparation I received meant that I was able to start working in the industry while studying my diploma.
The critical thinking required in the program challenged my perceptions, how I view the world and the way I make decisions. The support from lecturers was outstanding; we weren’t just a number, they were available when we needed help.
As a result of completing the course I’ve been able to secure my dream job, working as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer. My role in an industry federation is busy and diverse; I'm involved in OHS training and education, representing members in WorkCover conciliations and reviewing policy and legislation.
I would highly recommend this program for anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in occupational health and safety.
I plan to build my experience in the industry and then complete my master’s degree. I'd also like to do some volunteering overseas possibly working as a physiotherapist.
I am enthusiastic, positive and determined.
I love what I do because I can make a real difference to people's lives by enhancing their well-being in the workplace.
