Master of Information Technology
RMIT has a great reputation for providing industry connections, including providing internship opportunities and exposure to the job market prior to graduation.
After completing my Bachelor of Information Technology (Digital Media and Entertainment) at a university in Newcastle I decided to undertake further studies to increase my job prospects.
I was attracted to this area of study as I like creating something out of nothing. Programming allows you to build little worlds and then play with them, making adjustments and watching the effects. Just like owning a toy planet and say, “I’m going to make it rain.” Then all the little people have opened umbrellas!

A highlight of my studies was having my favourite professor validate the effort I put into my work which made me very proud.
I learnt a lot of valuable skills throughout my studies including programming, group work, time management and the ability to work under pressure.
I recently completed my postgraduate project where my team and I worked with a financial company in Melbourne to help them build their website. The entire semester was full of dealing with clients, working in a team, solving problems, solving new problems and so on. The experience was invaluable as it was something that we could not learn from sitting in a lecture theatre.
I regularly go to meet-ups with industry as it is a great way to network and to learn new things. The great thing about Melbourne is that there is a great range of free lectures and talks.
Once I graduate I hope to work as a developer but in the meantime my friend I plan to build our own app with the skills we have learnt through our studies.
