Subject: Business Information Systems ISYS2056
This is an introductory course in business analytics using readily available desktop tools (Excel and Access database).
This six-week course develops your skills to build solutions that meet the requirements of business to effectively integrate Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into their operations.
You will acquire the ability to build models using database, web and spreadsheet technologies and communicate with management using business reports and presentations.

Teaching times:
The course is delivered over six weeks via RMIT’s virtual learning environment, Canvas.
Each week there will be:
Two hours of online delivered lecture content which students are responsible for watching in their own time
Four hours of workshop delivered content (teacher led), comprising two 1-hour sessions and one 2-hour session.
There is additional content provided to support student learning, including downloadable workshop materials, online quizzes and links to online resources.
In week 3 and week 6, the 2-hour session is replaced with a 90-minute assessment task.
A 90-minute test delivered on Canvas covering material from Weeks 1-3 in both workshops and lectures.
A Business Report where students are asked to analyse data provided in a spreadsheet then present a report to the business owners outlining their analysis and recommendations.

Successful completion of Business Information Systems through RMIT Global Summer School Program will enable you to gain a credit in our relevant Bachelor of Business programs.
Major studies in information systems include business IT development, information systems strategy and governance, business databases, e-business systems, and business analysis and design.
As a graduate of this multidisciplinary degree, you will be equipped with in-depth skills and knowledge to implement impactful technological improvements across a range of industries.
