Course Summary

This course focuses on developing your understanding of several selected chemical topics relevant to the chemical sciences; it utilises a problem-based approach as applied to real life examples.
The course will develop your advanced level critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills in inorganic, organic and physical chemistry - the skills that professional scientists will require during their career in solving structural, energetic and kinetic problems associated with chemical, physical, metallurgical or biological processes. It builds on your basic chemistry knowledge developed in prior years.
Lectorials in Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry will be presented. A detailed understanding of Transition Metal Spectra and Reaction Mechanisms, Organic Synthesis, Kinetics and Molecular Spectroscopy is developed so as to provide you with the necessary skills to analyse complex chemical systems encountered in the professional practice of chemistry.
