In this course we will explore the historical development of the documentary form and its contemporary modes, and the critical and theoretical discourses surrounding them. This course will critically engage with a variety of historical and contemporary documentary forms and national contexts. You will explore the relationship between ideas of truth and representation, political agency and the ethics of documentary film practice, and how these concepts and practices can be related to historical changes in documentary filmmaking. 

You will undertake Career Developmental Learning (CDL) by engaging and connecting with local and/or global film industries relevant to your current studies. The course will support the development of skills crucial for your career planning and future in the cinema and screen sectors.
