In this course you will explore advanced critical and analytical approaches to cinema, covering the nature and changing role of film theory throughout the twentieth and into the twenty-first century and its use by academics, critics and filmmakers.  

You will examine the use of theory to understand films and screen texts more broadly, as well as how we can put film theory to use in thinking through historical and contemporary texts and screen practices.  

This course is particularly recommended for students who wish to undertake further study in film, television or screen studies.
