Course Summary
This course explores the nature and changing role of film theory throughout the twentieth and into the twenty-first century. It examines theory's implications for how we understand films and screen texts more broadly, as well as how we can put historical film theory to use in thinking through contemporary texts and screen practices.
This course is the capstone in the Cinema Studies minor and is recommended for students who wish to undertake honours and/or further study in film, television or screen studies.
