Course Summary

The design studio is the core of the interior design program, offering diverse contexts and approaches for exploring interior design practice. At the start of each semester, you will select from a suite of studio projects via a ballot, allowing you to pursue individual areas of interest.

Studios are project-based and led by academic and industry practitioners, investigating specific sites, typologies, contexts, issues and questions to develop conceptual thinking and technical skills relevant to interior design practice. Design studio draws on knowledge and skills from core program courses, including history and theory, communications, and technology, encouraging you to integrate and apply these in your studio projects.

Please note that if you take this course for a bachelor honours program, your overall mark in this course will be one of the course marks that will be used to calculate the weighted average mark (WAM) that will determine your award level. (This applies to students who commence enrolment in a bachelor honours program from 1 January 2016 onwards. See the WAM information web page for more information.)
