Course Summary

In this course you will build on your learning in NURS1023 Child and Family Health Assessment and explore the range of health issues that can impact on children and families in the community. Identification, assessment, management and referral of these issues will be considered in terms of the supports and agencies available to families. The concept of vulnerability and vulnerable familiesi ntroduced in 'Early Parenting' s will be further examined in light of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nurse's role, care planning and health promotion. Risk assessment and the MCH Nurse's responsibility for mandatory reporting will also be critically discussed here
