Course Summary

This study tour offers students collaborative, immersive and experiential learning opportunities in a developing country. Each year the destination country and theme is decided in advance. The study tour may include interaction with a wider range of individuals from non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, international funding bodies, and local peoples' organisations.
The types of topics that may be examined include sustainable development, gender and development, environment and sustainability, and displacement, in the context of a developing country.
It will involve living and travelling together as a collective group with opportunities to interact and learn from the local community.
The study tour will utilise several action-learning approaches, such as active listening, co-learning, un-/re-learning, dialogues, and critical thinking.
Debriefing and reflection sessions are integral to the program to assist in sharing and processing lessons learned both in the destination country and upon return to Melbourne.
