Course Summary

In this course, you will explore the history and the social context of communication design. A focus of the course will be examining a range of theoretical, historical, economic and cultural frameworks and their relationship to contemporary communication design.
Issues to be explored include the nature of the communication design industry and how it has developed, its place in the community and society, the future of design industries more broadly, and the interrelationships of different design fields.
This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.
