This course introduces you to the concept of creative practice research, and to strategies used in fashion and textile practice research. For fashion and textile design, creative practice is a model of research that uses design experiments as 'data' in the form of garments, textiles, publications, films, performances, and exhibitions. As 'data' this will be reflected and analysed to be translated as research.
This course is taught alongside your studio course and will enable you to gain a deeper understanding of your emerging design practice and how it is positioned within social and cultural contexts. You will explore a range of creative practice research methods through tutorials, workshops, and seminars. You will develop research skills in data gathering, reflective practice, analysis, and communication of research findings appropriate to fashion design.
