Course Summary

The course provides you with a detailed understanding of enterprise and cloud networks, their design, operation and security. The course introduces software defined networking using examples and hands-on activities with software defined network enabled switches and simulators. Network design and security in enterprise and cloud networks are a focus of this course.
Virtualisation is introduced so that students learn how hardware is being used on demand for different software, application and networking solutions. Discussion and workshop activities are included on how future networks are being reshaped by the use of virtualisation and software defined networking. The focus on enterprise and cloud networks reflects the substantial changes occurring within the industry and provides participants with important knowledge on key activities encountered within the industry.
This course includes a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience. WIL activities include simulations and projects using industry technology, equipment and processes.
Please note that if you take this course for a bachelor honours program, your overall mark in this course will be one of the course marks that will be used to calculate the weighted average mark (WAM) that will determine your award level.
